Jamaica – Beautiful Beaches, Blue Mountains And The Roots Of Reggae Music.

Few places are as much fun as Jamaica. The beaches at Negril, the Blue Mountains, Dunn’s River Falls, the pirate hang-out at Port Royal, the adventure and eye opening experiences of a visit to Kingston and sweet reggae music under tropical skies all add up to an unforgettable holiday. Any time is the right time to visit Jamaica. The weather is always warm and the people are always willing to welcome you with open arms. Whether you stay at a 5 star hotel or an all-inclusive resort, a journey to Jamaica can provide all the fun and romance you want.

Negril has some of the best beaches in Jamaica. They run the gamut from raked and well maintained to naturally beautiful, wild and untouched. You can find family fun or romance and solitude. Want to get away from the crowd? Try Crane Beach near the Black River. Montego Bay has long been a Jamaican holiday destination par excellence. You can roam the five miles of white sandy beach and splash in the cool clear waters at Doctor’s Cave Beach, enjoy the beauty of Cornwall Beach or let the little ones splash in the gentle waves and clear shallow waters at Walter Fletcher Beach. Blue Lagoon Beach and San San Beach in Port Antonio are also great places for family fun. For those looking for wild waves and a surf adventure, Long Bay, Treasure Beach and Boston Beach have the rental equipment and consistent waves.

Dunn’s River Falls is another Jamaican ‘must see’. Rising over 200 meters into the Caribbean sky, these terraced falls are a popular attraction. Lead by local guides visitors have great fun climbing up the stair-step like terraces while the cool waters splashes over them. There are several small lagoons on the way up where you can stop and splash and have fun. The falls are surrounded by lush vegetation that cools the area and add a sense of mystery. It is a fantastic experience.

Jamaica is world famous for its flavourful Blue Mountain coffee. It is cultivated at between 900 and 2000 meters above sea level. The Blue Mountains themselves are a great place to explore. Jamaica’s longest mountain range, the Blue Mountains also feature the 2256 meter tall Blue Mountain Peak. It is the highest point on the island. From the summit you can not only see Jamaica’s north and south coast, you can also see Cuba, some 210 kilometres away. The Blue Mountains are one of the steepest ranges in the world. They are also home to 500 species of flowering plants, many of them are found nowhere else in the world. The Blue Mountains are also home to the Homerus Swallowtail, the world’s second largest butterfly.

If you want to sneak a peek at Jamaica’s rebellious past, visit Port Royal. Here pirates hid their treasure, drank rum and made plans to raid the ships carrying gold and silver back to Europe. If you want to see the soul of the country’s rebellious present and experience the inspiration for many of its reggae greats you must visit Trench Town in Kingston, the islands capital.
